This past weekend was the annual Western Canvas Products Association Meeting & Expo hosted right here in sunny (usually) San Diego. Wholesale Shade worked together with Tim Akes of MPanel software, Glen Raven & Trivantage, and Steve Morenberg to put together the opening, “kick-off” event of the weekend.
Here at Wholesale Shade, we looked at this as a golden opportunity to show off our shop and some of the exciting things that we have been working on.
The heavy rains may have caused some delays on the road, but they let up just in time for us to give a tour of our shop in San Marcos. We showed off our Carlson Plotter/Cutter, double and single needle sewing machines, quality control and shipping areas, the office, and our product testing areas. Guests sipped hot coffee and munched on Valentine’s Day cookies as they asked questions during the tour.
Next up, Tim Akes demonstrated some of the great new features for MPanel’s InSite and Shade Designer software. We were excited to get some more tips and tricks from Tim.
Robin DuBroy, our newest team member, took a few minutes to introduce the group to Shade Sail University. If you’re reading this blog, you’ve probably already heard about Shade Sail University. As a leader in shade sail fabrication, we aim to make it easy for you to be in the shade business. Shade Sail University is designed to help you on your journey. Whether you are just starting out and need some guidance, or you are looking for training materials for new employees, Shade Sail University will have the information you are looking for.
Our first ever Shade Sail University Workshop rounded out the evening with a hands-on demonstration by Patrick Howe about attachment points. Afterward, we all headed over to Rip Current, a local brewery, for a fun hospitality mixer.
Thank you to everyone who came out to learn with us last week. We loved hosting this workshop and can’t wait to do it again soon. We have so much more planned for Shade Sail University and future workshops for you. So join the SSU community to learn more about shade sails, get access to training materials, and get notified about our next workshop so you can join us!
